The International Circus Festival YOUNG STAGE Basel celebrated its grand finale on September 22, 2025, with an emotional gala show after nearly 20 years. The audience responded with standing ovations.
Various prestigious prizes were also awarded on the last day of the festival at the GRANDE FINALE. Nicolás Teusa won the Golden Star for his performance. The unique GRANDE FINALE Award went to Jano Schorno.
On 22 September, we have one last highlight in store for the GRANDE FINALE: for the first time in the history of the festival, the gala show will not only be held in the event hall of Messe Basel, but will also be broadcast worldwide.

The Grande Finale of YOUNG STAGE kicks off the day after tomorrow on 18 September – the crowning glory of a festival history spanning almost 20 years. On Saturday, 13 September 2025, two mobile troupes of performers transformed the streets of Basel into a colourful stage with live music. With creativity, artistry and plenty of circus flair, they announced the grand finale of YOUNG STAGE and put the city in a festive mood.
A moving highlight in the history of YOUNG STAGE is the publication of the high-quality photo book "Beyond Colors". It pays tribute to the festival and thanks all those who have shaped it since its inception almost 20 years ago.
The final edition of YOUNG STAGE will be a fantastic artistic celebration of emotions. Young, talented professional artists from 12 nations will compete one last time in the renowned competition and showcase their extraordinary skills in a modern show of the highest caliber.
From 640 applications from 66 countries, ten top-class acts from twelve countries were invited to Basel. They will showcase their skills, combining modernity and tradition, in the competition at the Event Hall of Messe Basel.
